Workshop and
Exhibition theme: ‘Invest in women: Accelerate progress’. In celebration of
2024 International Women Day
UPDATED BRIEF
FOR SELECTED PARTICIPANTS.
Kindly send your biography at least 150 words and at most 300 words written in the third person to whyafrica@gmail.com by Friday 23rd February 2024 if you have not done so. Kindly write your biography or artists statement in line with the type of art you have selected to do. For exmaple you are doing poetry, but your biography says nothing about your experience and interest in that regard.
Non-Ghanaians should kindly indicate their
nationality. Updated list would be shared based on the submission of the required
information.
Participating Artists: Artists may choose to
participate in more than one category of art. For exmaple, an artist can do one
sculpture, one painting and one photography if within capabilities. If you
intend to do sculpture, kindly inform the coordinator by 23rd February
2024 so that the display stand would be made available for your work.
Location: World Bank Ghana Office is on King Hassan Road plot#3.
The space is security conscious and please be ready to go through all the
security checks on arrival and departure. Kindly inform your friends as well on
the exhibition day.
Directions: The pedestrian entrance is on Independence
Avenue, directly opposite MTN head office, ridge. Drivers would use the second
gate on the King Hassan Road.
Production of works: Participants must come with
their own materials for production. Kindly conceptualize your work in such a
way that it would be possible for you to finish on the 7th of March 2024
available for exhibition on the 8th, March 2024.
Caption: Each work must have a written text, title,
date, artist name, materials used.
Prices: Works would be on sale during the exhibition period.
If you do not wish to sell your work, it would be labeled sold. Kindly bear in
mind that you must make your prices available to the coordinator when you
finish the work. Kindly price your work as YOU deem appropriate.
Framing: Kindly plan your work in such a way that it would
be available for exhibition. Kindly make sure frames have hanging tread, wire
and hooks where needed.
Painting: Kindly paint the edges of your work when
you finish, place your signature and the date of your creation.
Sculpture- Kindly finish all edges to ensure that the
rendition is sustainable at least for the duration of the exhibition. If your sculpture
is 3D, kindly ensure you come with framework to support it. Display stands would
be provided for sculpture pieces.
Photography- Kindly come with your frame so that you
can mount the photo when you print it. In this case you already know what size
of print you wish to make. When your photo is completed, you may print it at
shops in Osu. Either Photo Club or Flash Photos.
Poetry- Kindly come with your frame so that you may
either write on the canvas if you choose that style or print the poem and frame
it. There would be an A4 black and white printer available for final prints
only. Poets are encouraged to come with their laptop or smart phones or
writing tools.
Donation: Artists are encouraged to donate 20 percent
to 30 percent to the Institute when works are sold at the exhibition.
